Biographical history

"Casey" Adams was raised in Minot, North Dakota, where his father was stationmaster of the Great Northern depot. After service in the United States Army and Air Force, he received a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Oregon State University and joined the Boeing Company in 1951, eventually becoming head of the patent-engineering program. He was a railroad photographer, primarily of the Great Northern Railway, published some, and made presentations to the Great Northern Railway Historical Society.

Scope and content

The Casey Adams Collection takes in Amtrak timetables, Amtrak zone maps, Railway Education Bureau lesson materials, Milwaukee Road timetables a Union Pacific rule book and other miscellaneous railroad-related ephemera, newspaper clippings and artifacts. It also includes photographs, primarily of Great Northern Railways subjects, of railroad equipment and structures. Other railroads represented include the Burlington Northern, Northern Pacific, and Union Pacific.
