Great Northern First Cascade Tunnel, 2.6 miles long at an elevation of 3,400 feet, opened to trains on December 20, 1900. This photograph was used in an article of the 1980 Burlington Northern Employees magazine entitled "Cascade Tunnel, Washington". From the David Emerson Collection, taken by an unknown photographer in 1900.
