The John Fredrickson Collection is comprised primarily of railroad enthusiast and model railroad magazines dated between 1962 and 2011. It also includes 2 books on railroads in Washington state and a map of the Wisconsin Central Railroad Company.

The John F. Strauss Collection includes materials on various Pacific Northwest railroads including the Great Northern, Northern Pacific, Milwaukee Road, and Burlington Northern. Items include sound recordings on vinyl, VHS format video recordings, books on railroad topics, scrapbooks on Great Northern passenger service and timetables for various railroads. Materials date between 1905 and 2008 with most from the second half of the 20th century.

The John DeYoung Collection is comprised of the September-October 1958 (Volume XXXII #5) issue of the Northern Pacific Railroad's publication "The Northwest and Its Resources".

The John Dennis Collection holds some 160 color photographs taken by Danny P. Cook and additional photographs provided as digital files. Subjects are primarily Burlington Northern equipment, employees and locations in western Washington state taken in the 1990's. P. Titus, an engineer involved in the Northern Pacific's Eagle Gorge, Washington line change in 1958, and trainmens' work schedules for Everett, Washington in the late 1980's and early 1990's

The John C Thomas Collection is comprised of a book - "Railroad History #143", and a book of Great Northern Railway Joint Facility Diagrams (track), a book:The Montana Central Railways, a picture of the Sidney, Montana depot (perhaps built by the Montana Central).

The John Barrows Collection incorporates 45 Northern Pacific trainsheets from 1940 and 1945 for the Norhtern Pacific's Rocky Mountain and Yellowstone Divisions.

The John and Ivar Aspebakken Collection is comprised of 8 mm film on railroad subjects, track profiles, maps, tonnage charts and ephemera for the Burlington Northern, and track profiles for the Fort Worth and Denver, and Colorado Southern railroads. It includes digital copies of the track profiles.
