Great Northern Steam Locomotive 2508, a Class P-2, a 4-8-2, built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1923, 29"x28" cylinders, 73" drivers, 210 psi steam pressure, 365,000 pounds weight, 54,823 pounds tractive effort. These were the workhorses in the 1920's and 1930's. Along with the 25-70-80 series, the 2500-2527 Mountains inaugarated the new Empire Builder trains, as seen here pulling Number 7 eastbound past the old Great Northern depot at Hillyard, Washington.
