The Great Northern Railway Authority for Expenditure (AFE) Collection consists of approximately 150,000 paper files. The contents document construction and modifications to the railroad and nearby structures, and include business and finance records, engineering drawings, maps, and correspondence. Records range from 1888 to 1984 and include some from predecessor (e.g. St. Paul, Minneapolis and Manitoba Railroad) and successor (Burlington Northern Railroad) companies.
