Leading the train is new diesel freight locomotive number 6008, 5400-hp model FT, built by Electro-Motive Division of General Motors in 1944, pressed into service to handle the combined coach and Pullman sections in a detour over the Milwaukee Road between Spokane and Easton--and first diesel ever to haul a North Coast Limited into Seattle.
