Northern Pacific passenger train number 408, Seattle-Portland, at Tacoma, Washington, on April 13, 1949. Led by Class A Northern-type steam locomotive number 2608 and on an unusual detour route due to earthquake damage on the normal Point Defiance line, train has crossed Foss Waterway drawbridge before heading down the incline into Union Station, and after its stop will back out of the station and continue its trip on the Prairie line through South Tacoma and Lakeview, and rejoin the mainline at Nisqually.
