The University of Nebraska Collection is comprised of Great Northern Railway documents: a booklet "The Scenic Northwest"; a booklet "The Call of the Mountains", Annual Report 1965; Annual Report #71, 1959; Supplement to Annual Report #77, 1965; and a brochure "The Great Northern Today".
The Vern Salomensen Collection is a group of photograph negatives of Northern Pacific equipment, chiefly steam locomotives, and locations taken in the 1950's.
The Waldo Thomas Collection includes materials on a wide range of railroad subjects, primarily created between 1950 and 2000, with some items as early as 1902. Documents include posters, post cards, tickets, engineering drawings, and maps. Materials produced by the Northern Pacific Railroad Company, Great Northern Railway Company (U.S.), Southern Pacific Railroad Company and other railroads are included.
The Walt Grecula Collection is comprised of railroad photographs, maps, documents and ephemera. It covers chiefly the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad, with additional materials from the successor Burlington Northern. It also has some documents and photographs from the Milwaukee Road and Northern Pacific. The period covered ranges from the 1920's to the 1980's.
The Walter Appel Collection includes "Modern Railroads" for July, 1964, Northern Pacific Railroad Annual Reports for 1960-1968, Northern Pacific Railroad Statistical Supplements to the annual reports for 1962 and 1964, and Standard & Poor's report page for Northern Pacific earnings dated 04/28/1967.
The Walter Grivna Collection comprises a photograph of a Northern Pacific Railroad communications department staff meeting in Spokane, Washington, October 19-20, 1968 with list of people in the photograph.
The Walter Mills Collection comprises the book "The Report of Explorations and Surveys to ascertain the Most Practical and Economical Route for a Rrailroad from the Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean".
