The James Martin Collection consists of 8 published railroad books, miscellaneous railroad ephemera, 423 photographs and negatives of railroad subjects, and additional photographs and items primarily from the Great Northern Railway.
The James Fredrickson Collection is an extensive compilation of documents and photographs, primarily concerned with the Northern Pacific Railroad Company with additional coverage of other Pacific Northwest railroads. The Fredrickson Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) collection covers documents from the Northern Pacific's Tacoma and Idaho Divisions from 1900 to 1927. Many of these documents are actually Field Completion Reports (FCR).

The James Knoll Collection consists of Fraternal Order of Empire Builders publications, including proceedings, reference sheets, member rosters, Form 19's, newsletters, and the constitution and by-laws.
The James Ehernberger Collection includes photographs of Burlington Northern Railroad diesel locomotive and other subjects, Great Northern Railway locomotives, Northern Pacific Railroad locomotives, and Northern Pacific Railroad depots. Most were taken by Norm Metcalf.
The James A. Van Voorhis Collection encompasses primarily photographs of a Northern Pacific Railroad Steel-Gang and a Telegraph crew between 1935 & 1940.
