Dale Jones grew up in the Spokane Valley of Washington State between Parkwater and Millwood only a block from the Northern Pacific mainline. In the late 1960's he began a 50 year period chronicling the Great Northern Railway and other railroads of the Pacific Northwest. He lived many years in Montana photographing Glacier National ParK and the Burlington Northern in Marias Pass. A few years on the Montana prairies produced a fine catalog of images of the Central Montana Rail, the Dakota, Missouri Valley & Western and many railroad branch lines in central and eastern Montana. For a few years he published a "Railroads of Montana" yearly calendar and some full-color booklets of various Montana railroad locations. His Railroads of Montana website (http://www.railroads-of-montana.com/) became active in 2000.
